Mr. Blakley also helps clients recover personal property collateral through repossessions and replevins. His practice has emphasized creditor's rights, foreclosures, and bankruptcy since joining the firm in 1986. Working closely with the firm’s lending, land use and real estate attorneys, Mr. Blakley assists clients in all aspects of distressed property, including deeds in lieu, forbearance agreements and preserving entitlements and rights under development agreements. He has represented parties in the Arizona Superior Court, Arizona Court of Appeals, Federal District Court and Bankruptcy Court. He has also litigated matters through the Arizona Registrar of Contractors and the American Arbitration Association. Mr. Blakley received his law degree from the University of Arizona (with high distinction) and his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University (summa cum laude). He was a writer and editor for the Arizona Law Review where he published two case notes. Mr. Blakley was the Chair of the State Bar of Arizona Creditor/Debtor's Rights Committee from 1995 to 2000. He is a member of the State Bar's Construction Law Section. Mr. Blakley was selected for the 2010 edition of Best Lawyers in America for Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law. Mr. Blakley has presented seminars on a number of topics including health care reimbursement, creditor's rights, bankruptcy and construction law. Mr. Blakley’s community activities include service on the Board of Directors of the Valley Youth Theatre and past President of the Leukemia Foundation of Arizona. |
